To the delight of many fans, the Samsung Galaxy S7 is dust and water resistant. In the past, Samsung has released “Active” models have added these features to the standard flagship model. Since the flagship already has some of these “Active” features, we didn’t know if Samsung would still release a Galaxy S7 Active. According to Samsung themselves, the S7 Active is still on the way.
The changelog for the latest update to the Samsung Level app lists the “Galaxy S7 Active” as a supported device. Oops. That leaves the question of what the Active model will offer over the standard Galaxy S7. We expect to see military-grade water and sut protection and a larger battery. We could also see a more rugged and industrial design.
Are you still interested in the Galaxy S7 Active, or is the standard model already rugged enough for you? For most people, IP68 protection is enough. If you find yourself dropping your phone in water a lot, or just dropping the phone in general, the Active model may still be a good choice.
