Nexus 6P Android N Beta Program software update

First Android N update rolling out to Nexus devices enrolled in the Beta Program

Anyone who has a Nexus device enrolled in the Android Beta Program, the first over-the-air update is now available to download. The size of the update varies largely depending on which device you have, with the Nexus 6P and 5X showing the update weighing in around 26MB – 27MB. Doesn’t sound too big and if you’d like to update the old fashioned way, the updated system images are also available.

The update appears to be arriving as build number NCP56W for both the 5X and 6P, NCP56X for the Nexus 9, and NCP56R for the Nexus Player. It’s too early to tell what’s new, but there are so many bugs in Android N’s early state, so we wouldn’t be surprised to find at least a few of those fixed. Can’t say we were expecting an update so soon — Android N and the Beta Program only kicked off last week — but we’re pleased none the less.

For those that manually flashed the first system images, you can still get the update over-the-air, you’ll just need to enroll in the Android Beta Program first.
