Uber today revealed some nice new functionality for households who share funds or expenses. It’s called Family Profiles, and at the simplest level it allows you to add up to 10 people to one profile so those people can charge the cost of their rides to the same payment source, such as a family credit card.
The family organizer gets a receipt for all rides taken, too, so you won’t have to wonder which child decided to abuse the system and go on an expensive journey over the weekend. All a rider has to do is request a ride like normal and be sure to select their family’s payment source under the payment option.
Beyond that, Uber also says it doesn’t matter if the people in your family are actually family — you can add friends or colleagues if you want. Of course, they shouldn’t care — they’re getting paid the same either way — but it’s nice to know. You’ll need the latest update to take advantage so be sure to download it from Google Play.
