Sony’s PlayStation Video app now available on Google Play for Android devices

0

You can never have too many options when it comes to media consumption. Rounding out Sony’s app portfolio is the new PlayStation Video app, available for free right now on Google Play. The app allows you to pull up movie/show rentals and/or purchases made in the PlayStation Store right from your favorite Android device. You can also purchase or rent directly from within the app, should you want to take your viewing experience on-the-go.

Sony says you can expect new movie releases the same day as DVDs hit the street, sometimes even before and warns that TV content is currently unavailable in Mexico and Brazil. Sadly, PlayStation Vue — Sony’s live broadcast TV streaming service — isn’t supported (although there is a weird section for it in the app, likely to get users to sign up). Vue only officially launched earlier this week, so we’re hoping something will be added in the near future. As it stands, there is already a dedicated PlayStation Vue app on iOS and for the Amazon Fire TV.

I've been obsessed with consumer technology for about as long as I can remember, be it video games, photography, or mobile devices. If you can plug it in, I have to own it. Preparing for the day when Android finally becomes self-aware and I get to welcome our new robot overlords.
