Six Flags roller coaster riders can immerse themselves with the Samsung Gear VR

Samsung and Six Flags today announced a partnership that’ll make it possible for Samsung Gear VR users to take their roller coaster rides to the next level. You get on the coaster and launch the appropriate app, and you’ll be immersed in a world that matches your ride.

The first experience puts you inside an attack helicopter as you ascend to the skies and race through the city until you get to an alien mothership protected by drones. You can even interact with the game as you’ll be tasked with shooting the mothership to take it down. You’ll be able to find that experience on 6 different parks and coasters:

• Shock Wave at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington, opening March 10 to Season Pass Holders as a special sneak preview;
• Dare Devil Dive at Six Flags Over Georgia outside of Atlanta, opening March 12 to Season Pass Holders as a special sneak preview;
• The New Revolution at Six Flags Magic Mountain near Los Angeles, opening March 26 to Season Pass Holders as a special sneak preview;
• Ninja at Six Flags St. Louis in Eureka;
• Steamin’ Demon at The Great Escape in Lake George, New York and
• Goliath at La Ronde in Montreal.

There’s also going to be a Superman experience for the company’s various Superman-themed rides. You’ll ride around Metropolis, and you’ll even find yourself flying alongside Superman as he fights Lex Luger and his Lexbots. Here’s where you’ll find those coasters:

• SUPERMAN Krypton Coaster at Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio;
• SUPERMAN The Ride at Six Flags New England in Agawam, Massachusetts; and
• SUPERMAN Ride of Steel at Six Flags America in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.

The coasters will start operating at some point later this month and available at least through the Summer season, so be sure to take your phone and headset with you if you’re planning on going.
