Xiaomi Mi5 is another gorgeous Chinese phone we wish we could have

We’re not done with new flagship phones at MWC. Earlier today, Xiaomi VP Hugo Bara announced the new Xiamomi Mi5. Like every other Xiaomi phone we’ve seen, the Mi5 is a gorgeous piece of hardware. Every time we see a new Xiaomi phone we wish they were easier to get in the US. The Mi5 has great specs and a surprisingly low price.

The Mi5 has a 5.2-inch 1080p display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 16MP camera, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and a 3,000mAh battery. These specs are more than enough to keep up with the Samsung Galaxy S7 and LG G5. The phone is made of glass or ceramic, depending on how much you want to spend. It looks like a cross between a Samsung phone and an iPhone.

If the phone ever made it outside of China, it would cost just $305 for the base model. Meanwhile, the new flagships from Samsung and LG are upwards of $600 if you’re lucky. One of the things we’ve learned in the last year is affordable phones can be great, and great phones can be affordable. Xiaomi and others prove this over and over again. Would you buy the Mi5 if you could?
