Last week, we learned that the Samsung Gear S2 Classic 4G (that’s a mouthful) would be coming to carriers on March 11th. One of the carriers announced was Verizon, and today they’ve shared details on when pre-orders will begin. Customers can pre-order the device tomorrow (February 23rd) for $399 or $349 with a two-year contract. It will cost $5 per month to add the Gear S2 to your account.
The Gear S2 Classic 4G is not your typical smartwatch. First of all, it doesn’t run Android Wear. Samsung uses their own Tizen OS for most of the Gear smartwatches. If you’ve never used Tizen on a watch, it’s actually pretty nice. The bezel acts as a dial to scroll through the UI. The Gear S2 gets the “4G” part of its name thanks to the data capabilities. This is a smartwatch that can live without a smartphone connected. It’s an extra data plan on your account, but it can come in handy.
Be sure to head on over to Verizon’s website tomorrow to pre-order the Gear S2 Classic 4G. Do we have any Gear users ou there? Or do you prefer to stick with Android Wear?
