Verizon’s DROID Ultra, Maxx and Mini won’t be updated to Lollipop; Motorola offers meager discounts to make up for it
If you’re a proud owner of Verizon’s DROID Ultra, Maxx, or Mini, we have some discouraging news for you. Although Motorola announced that these devices would eventually find their way to Android Lollipop, it seems that was incorrect.
David Schuster, Senior Director at Motorola Mobility, took to Google+ yesterday to make the disappointing announcement. Now, these devices have been around for quite some time, so it would be a surprise to see very many users be overly upset.
Luckily (sort of), if you are an owner of any of these devices, Motorola is offering a discount on the DROID Turbo 2 or the DROID Maxx 2. If you are an owner of one of the aforementioned devices and want to get a discount on a new DROID device, here are your options:
- DROID Turbo 2 (from $624, now from $524) $100 savings
- DROID Maxx 2 (reg. $384, now $334) $50 savings
If you would like to partake in these savings being offered by Motorola, you’ll need to head over to the promotion page and fill out some information. One of the big requirements for this promotion is that the device is on an active phone number.
Finally, if you want to take advantage of these savings, Motorola is running the promotion until Thursday, May 19th, and the promo code that you will receive will need to be redeemed by Thursday, June 2nd. Even though Motorola sort of screwed the pooch with the software update for these devices, at least they aren’t just sweeping it under the rug.
