Mobile World Congress 2016 will be getting underway in a little over a week over in Barcelona, Spain. However, there are a few companies that are starting to announce devices or will announcing devices before MWC gets underway. This means that we are officially entering that time of the year where we get to see a lot of the new devices from major manufacturers.
With the impending announcement and unveiling of the LG G5, LG has announced two new devices that will be entering the “mid-range” market after they are unveiled at MWC 2016. The ‘X’ series of devices is aimed to cater to those individuals who don’t want all the extra frills and goodies that usually come with the flagship devices, let alone the high prices.
“Everyone has a favorite smartphone feature,” said Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “At LG, we think there’s room for devices that do one thing very well and that customers shouldn’t have to pay for features that they don’t want. At the end of the day, we’re committed to offering consumers more choices.
LG is touting these new X-series of devices as “Specialist” devices that will bring consumers their favorite features, while not costing an arm and a leg. The X cam is for the camera enthusiasts and features two rear-facing cameras, while the x screen brings a dual-display similar to what was released with the LG V10.
Pricing has yet to be announced, but will be available in Asia, Europe and Latin America starting in March. If you’re going to MWC in Barcelona, you’ll be able to check out LG’s newest devices at their booth in Hall 3 of Fira Gran Via from February 22-25.
