Hugo Barra is back to teasing about Xiaomi’s latest flagship. The Xiaomi Mi 5 is due for announcement on February 24th, but he can’t help but to let loose a bit of a teaser ahead of time. This time, he shares a camera sample straight from the device’s camera.

While it’s tough to tell the worth of a camera sensor without multiple shots in multiple lighting situations, this particular shot can give us a rough idea of some of the daylight work it can do. Barra says the photo was taken in HDR mode with no other tricks or alterations.
As you can see, things look quite sharp overall, and when you crop an area to zoom in it doesn’t give us any reason to believe Xiaomi is delivering anything less than a competent camera experience.

We’re still not sure which exact sensor Xiaomi is using, but we do hear it’s a 16-megapixel unit to go along with a 12-megapixel counterpart on the front. That sounds like plenty for those who place great importance on that aspect of a phone. There’s just under a couple of weeks left until we hear all the details so stay tuned!
