Sony Xperia Z2 Lollipop edit

You can beta test Marshmallow on the Xperia Z2, Z3, and Z3 Compact using Sony’s new app

Updating older Android devices to newer software versions isn’t always as easy as it sounds. Not only is there a lot of time and resources spent on updating the software itself, even more time is spent bug testing devices afterward.

Sony knows how important Android updates are for some folks a new application in the Google Play Store is allowing select Sony Xperia Z2 (D6503), Sony Xperia Z3 (D6603), and Sony Xperia Z3 Compact (D5803) owners beta test Marshmallow before it officially rolls out over-the-air. It seems to only be available for users in Spain, Italy and Netherlands and space is limited, so you’ll need to act fast if you hope to get in. That is, if you live in one of those countries and testing early pre-release software sounds like a fun time to you.

In case there’s any confusion, this beta test shouldn’t be confused with Sony’s “Marshmallow Concept” was just that — concept software that featured a near-stock Android experience in order to gather feedback from users as the software evolved throughout different stages. This beta is a pre-release version of Sony’s official OTA update, it just needs to be tested for bugs before it officially rolls out to devices. Download link provided below.
