Fuel-cell makers suggest phones will have 7-day battery life in next 2 years

Smartphones are pretty amazing these days. Camera quality is much improved, displays look amazing, fingerprint sensors are getting really good. It’s a great time to buy a smartphone. However, there is one thing that plagues almost every single smartphone (Android or otherwise): battery life. It’s the one thing holding phones back.

For years and years, we’ve been waiting for a big breakthrough in battery tech. We’ve been given wireless charging and fast charging, but they’re band-aids for a much bigger problem. The real problem is having to charge your phone every single day. According to Intelligent Energy Holdings, there may be good news on the way.

The UK-based company believes that they have a solution to the problem. They even have a large investment from an “emerging smartphone maker” to back them up. IEH claims their fuel-cell technology could offer up to 7 days of battery life on a single charge. We could go from charging our phones every night to just once a week. The CEO says we could see this technology in as little as two years.

I don’t have to tell you how big of a deal this would be. 7-day battery life would be a game changer. Whichever manufacturer can get this technology in a phone first would instantly have our attention. In the meantime, check out our list of phones with the best battery life.
