Android Marshmallow for the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge officially rolling out
The time for betas is over: Samsung’s now ready to start rolling out Android 6.0 Marshmallow to the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. The rollouts have started in South Korea, with unlocked handsets in other regions likely not far behind.
Samsung didn’t reinvent TouchWiz for this release, but they did brighten things up with a couple of UI tweaks. Of note in particular is a change to the default color scheme: there’s now a more vibrant Blue-on-White configuration. They’ve also updated quite a few icons to look neater.
Those in the beta programs reported considerable speed improvements, too. Much of that is because Samsung seems to have fixed the device’s aggressive memory usage that could slow things down.
Unfortunately that’s all we know about the rollout right now. Those with carrier-specific models of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are likely to be waiting quite a while. As for the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Samsung Galaxy Note 5, there’s still no word on when we’ll see Marshmallow, but we’re sure work is well under way.
