Samsung reportedly cancels Galaxy S7 Edge Plus, but that doesn’t mean they won’t have a flagship phablet

We’ve long heard that Samsung may launch as many as three or four different variants of the Samsung Galaxy S7, but recent leaks and rumors have only shown evidence of 2 in existence thus far. It looks like that’s because any plans Samsung had to launch any more than 2 variants have been cancelled. That’s what reputable leakster @evleaks implies, anyway.

But that doesn’t mean you’re out of luck if you were looking forward to buying a flagship Samsung phablet early in the year. All of the latest rumors have implied that the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge will actually act as the phablet option at 5.5 inches, while the regular Galaxy S7 will come in at the traditional size of 5.1 inches.

It’s not good news for those who were hoping for an Edge display on a smaller device, but such a strategy allows Samsung to match Apple in trying to appeal to as many lengths of the market as they can. Call it a copycat strategy if you want, but if it’s the best route then it’s the best route.

For what it’s worth, @evleaks also claims 100% of the information in his report from earlier this year is accurate. Here’s what he said to expect:

Considering his track record is as solid as they come, we’ll opt to be cautiously optimistic about all of this. Let us know if the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are finally starting to sound like the phones you would line up to buy.
