If Samsung’s 2015 lineup wasn’t already confusing enough, the Korean manufacturer could once again switch things up for consumers next year. The good news is it could be a win for those looking for the greatest range of screen size options. Now we already heard rumors that Samsung was making a normal-sized 5.1/5.2-inch Galaxy S7, along with a larger 5.5-inch Galaxy S7 Edge (there apparently wont be a smaller Edge variant this year).
Adding to that now is a new tip from GSMArena. After digging around and asking accessory maker ITSKINS to revisit their 3D renders (used in making cases, skins, and screen protectors for devices) to measure the actual screen sizes, they made an interesting discovery. It seems Samsung could also be planning to launch a huge 6-inch variant of the Galaxy S7, a size normally reserved for company’s under-powered Galaxy Mega line. The larger model is said to come in both flat and curved varieties, likely arriving as the Galaxy S7 Plus and S7 Edge Plus. It seems Samsung’s Plus-sized models could be getting a huge bump in sizing for 2016.
We still find it odd that the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge will only come in 5.5-inch model, it’s the only thing that doesn’t quite make sense in all of this. We’re sure Samsung has tons of market research to back all this up and there’s still the possibility that anyone looking for a flat 5.5-inch Galaxy will have the Galaxy Note 6 to look forward to later on in the year. As it stands, anyone bummed there might not be a smaller, 5.1/5.2-inch Edge model?
