Despite allowing Sony Xperia Z3 owners in some regions to test drive Android 6.0 Marshmallow early, it appears Sony Mobile’s newer flagships — like the Sony Xperia Z5 and Sony Xperia Z4 — could still be in line to receive the official update their older siblings. That’s if this newly uncovered WiFi certification is any indication.

The documents, published by the WiFi Alliance, show all new Android 6.0 firmwares already running on the Z4 and Z5 in Japan, where it’s been approved for various carrier variants like NTT Docomo, SoftBank, and Au.

Sony Mobile has been tight lipped over specific release timing for Xperia devices although they did reveal a huge list of 15 devices scheduled to receive Marshmallow at some point in the near-ish future. The current rumor is that the Sony Xperia Z5 will see the update hit as soon as next month, but no confirmation from Sony’s camp as of yet.
