In a new forum post celebrating OnePlus’ 2nd birthday, co-founder Carl Pei announced that they’ll soon be bringing the white/gold variant of the OnePlus X — once a Chinese exclusive — to new markets, starting with Europe. While the $250 smartphone is available right now to anyone currently holding an X invite, everyone else will have to wait for OnePlus’ weekly open invites arriving this Tuesday, December 22nd before picking one up.
OnePlus warns that sales of the “Champagne edition” OnePlus X will be done on a first-come, first-served basis, so if you had your heart set on the new color option, you’d better mark your calendars. No word on when, or even if, the OnePlus X white/gold variant will be making its way to the US, but we’re hoping that if they do, OnePlus will actually make the phone compatible with US carrier’s 4G LTE bands this time around.
Also mentioned in the forum post was a new documentary OnePlus plans on releasing next year, providing a behind the scenes look at what makes the startup tick. It’s certainly not easy creating a new smartphone company but Pei says the short film will showcase all of the company’s highs, lows, and everything in between. If the NSFW language in the teaser trailer is any indication, the documentary should be pretty candid. Check it out below.
