Google Play is putting on a pretty neat promotion for the holiday season. You can gift a friend or family member a copy of a movie rental when you buy it.

The applicable list of movies is quite small at just 8 titles, but it’s better than nothing and there are actually some decent selections here:

Oh, and all the movies are just $2.99 to rent, so you won’t even be breaking the bank to snag one. The deal lasts through December 17th, is available only in the US, and only applies once per movie, per account (so no doubling up on movies, but you can buy all 8 and gift them to other people if you want).
