Instagram is rolling out 3D Touch-like long-press action on Android, but not for everyone
You don’t need a fancy pressure sensitive display to get much of the same 3D Touch functionality on Android. For most things, a simple long-press will do. It seems someone at Instagram has finally caught on, adding the long press action to the newest version of the Android app. Wouldn’t you know it — it behaves much the same way as it’s iOS counterpart.
Okay, so it’s not completely the same. The feature — introduced in the latest 7.13.0 update — allows you to long press and preview images in a larger view (known as Peeking on the iPhone 6S) so you can like, view profile, or share a photo, but there’s no way to press harder and open (Pop) the image. But for all intents and purposes, it works much the same way as on the iPhone 6S. Mostly.
Before you get too excited to try it out, it appears like their multi-account feature introduced in the last update, this is a server side switch. So even after updating, there’s no telling how long it’ll be before you get long press images.
