Like most flagships devices that launched last year (with the exception of the One A9), the Sony Xperia Z5 is one of many still running Lollipop. With no official word on when we can expect Android 6.0 Marshmallow to hit the device, users are forced to turn their ears to the rumor mill for clues.
With that, Twitter user Ricciolo — who’s proven a reliable source of leaks in the past — could have an actual date. According to him, the Sony Xperia Z5 is scheduled to receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow next moth, as in January 2016. He goes on to say that older Xperia models would follow shortly after that, but failed to give any sort of timeline. Of course, nothing is set in stone. This is still very much a rumor at this point.
It’ll be interesting to see what Sony has in store for their flavor of Marshmallow. We know they’ve been working on a near-stock Android build for sometime and with the combination of Marshmallow’s Doze feature and Sony’s own proprietary battery saving software, already great battery life on these devices could be further enhanced by the new update.
