Samsung today announced the addition of 8 new banks for Samsung Pay. The biggest addition on the list is Chase, whose debit, credit and Liquid VISA cards are all supported. Also on for the VISA side are Navy Federal Credit Union’s debit and credit cards.
Otherwise, all of the other additions today are for Mastercard users, including Citizens Equity First Credit Union, Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union, Security Service Federal Credit Union, State Employees’ Credit Union, SunTrust and Virginia Credit Union.
If you don’t know, Samsung Pay is kind of a big deal. It’s a wireless payment platform that bests all other platforms because the credit card terminal you use it with doesn’t require NFC. You can use Samsung Pay at any standard credit card terminal thanks to MST technology, which emulates a credit card swipe by wirelessly transmitting a magnetic signal to the strip reader inside the card machine.
Samsung promised the list of compatible banks and cards would grow over time, and so far they’re delivering on that promise quite nicely. Be sure to give it a try the next time you’re out and shopping.
