Droid Turbo 2

Verizon officially announces the Motorola DROID Turbo 2 and Maxx 2

As expected, Verizon has just announced the Motorola DROID Turbo 2 and Motorola DROID Maxx 2. These are follow-up to last years Motorola DROID Turbo and the Maxx from 2 years ago. The specs line up with all the rumors. The Turbo 2 has a 5.4-inch POLED QHD display, which is “shatterproof.” Moto calls it “ShatterShield,” and it comes with a 4-year guarantee against cracks and shattering.

The other specs for the Turbo 2 are as beastly as you’d expect from a flagship DROID. It has a Snapdragon 810 processor, 21MP camera (5MP front), microSD card slot (remember those?), and a whopping 3,760 mAh battery (along with Turbo Charging). It will be available through Moto Maker in a wide variety of options, including leather, ballistic nylon, and soft grip. The Turbo 2 will, unfortunately, launch with Android 5.1 Lollipop, not Marshmallow.

The Maxx 2 is also pretty much exactly what we expected. It’s a DROID-branded Motorola Moto X Play. The main selling points are the massive 3,630 mAh battery and 21MP camera. Everything else is mid-range: Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB of RAM, 5.5-inch 1080p display, and a microSD card slot. The Maxx 2 won’t be in Moto Maker, but it’s customizable with removable back covers.

The DROID Turbo 2 and Maxx 2 will be available on Thursday (Oct. 29th). The Turbo 2 will be available for $26 or $30 per month, depending on storage options. The Maxx 2 will be available for $16 per month.
