TAG Heuer teases upcoming Intel-powered Android Wear smartwatch, could retail for $1,800
Even if the current crop of Android Wear designs aren’t quite doing it for you (there are more than a few to choose from), luxury watchmaker TAG Heuer could soon have something more your style… you just gotta be willing to pay through the nose for it.
The Swiss-based company has been teasing an upcoming smartwatch developed in cooperation with Google (software) and Intel (processor) since back in March. But only today has TAG gone full steam with the hype machine, teasing the watch on social media where they say they will introduce “the next step in innovation.” They even have a new countdown site with a quote that reads:
“TAG Heuer is pushing the Swiss avant-garde limits even further with the TAG Heuer Connected. Tradition meets innovation, craftsmanship meets savoir-faire, and bold style meets breakthrough technology. The clock is ticking to the major breakthrough.”
The “connected” watch will be officially unveiled November 9th, 2015 in New York and although TAG isn’t talking price at the moment, CEO Jean-Claude Biver may have let it slip to CNBC that the watch should retail for around $1,800. If that sounds steep, Wearable reports that the watch will be upgradeable, meaning you wont have to worry about it becoming obsolete over time (an argument made against smartwatches vs traditional watches). That has to be a little comforting, right?
Whether or not that justifies such a hefty price tag (especially when there are other, much cheaper options out there) is between you and your wife.
