Sundar Pichai shuffles executive tree at Google, leaves Android in trusted hands
Sundar Pichai — the CEO of Google after Alphabet’s introduction — had some management decisions to make, and it looks like he finally has a clear idea of who he wants as the top leaders in his company for the foreseeable future.
Folks within the Ad and Android/Chrome teams have gotten some nice new and important titles and roles, while others below them are being bumped up to fill the vacated spots. Here’s a quick rundown of the biggest moves:
- Neal Mohan — from Vice President of display and video advertising to Senior Vice President of display and video advertising. Mohan was the former owner of DoubleClick, which Google acquired to grow their ads business.
- Hiroshi Lockheimer — from Vice President on Android team to Senior Vice President of Android, Chromecast and Chrome OS. Lockheimer worked closely with Pichai on the Android team over the years.
- Phillip Schindler — from Vice President of ads to Senior Vice President of Global Sales and Operations.
It sounds like Pichai selected some choice individuals who he has full trust in running some of the intricate day-to-day responsibilities and operations of Google. We’re especially happy he was quick to identify someone within the Android team who could be trusted enough to continue the ridiculous growth pattern that the unit experienced when he himself was still leading it. Fingers crossed that the new guys bring just as much to the table in their new roles as he did when he was blazing up the corporate ladder.
