Sony might not be the biggest Android manufacturer out there, but we’ll be damned if they aren’t one of the best in terms of update transparency. After giving us an early look at their concept for an updated Xperia software experience, Sony is now inviting 10,000 Xperia device owners to beta test the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.
A catch? Of course there’s a catch. You’ll need a Sony Xperia Z3 or Sony Xperia Z3 Compact to participate, so those who opted for the newer Xperia Z3+ will unfortunately be left out. You’ll also need to be in Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden and United Kingdom to participate.
If you check all of those boxes, though, you’ll be happy to know that signing up for testing is as easy as downloading this app and submitting your details. If accepted, Sony will contact you and get things rolling, which they currently estimate to begin somewhere in the middle of this month. If you don’t make it in, don’t worry: many Xperia devices are slated to get Marshmallow in due time.
