It’s early days yet for Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates, but Sony has fallen in line by providing details on their plans to get Xperia devices loaded up with the latest version of Android. The company has confirmed 15 devices which will receive love:
Notably missing from that list is the Sony Xperia Z1. Sony was able to promise that every device in the Z family would receive Android Lollipop when that update was the new hot thing, but it appears the Xperia Z1 is just a bit too old to enjoy the new goods.
It’s important to remember that this list could be subject to change. Sony could potentially add or remove devices as their development plans get clearer. You should also be reminded that updates are subject to carrier approval, so when Sony eventually announces that rollouts have commenced it doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll get it that same day.
As for what will be new once the update rolls out, Sony says to stay tuned, and so we shall.
