This footage of a hummingbird at 240fps recorded on a Nexus 6P is downright gorgeous

There are bound to be varying opinions on the cameras inside the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P (find some early samples here), but one thing you can’t argue with is its ability to record video in 240 frames per second. It’s silky smooth, and it makes for some fine slow motion footage.

What better way to display that than some footage of a classic hummingbird? These little guys flap their wings faster than most humans can see, but thanks to the Nexus 6P’s 240fps recording you can capture enough frames to slow it down for a nice smooth look. Check it out right here on Google Photos.

Awesome, right? Even better is that the video maintains great quality that allows us to key in on details present on the bird’s wings. The camera was also rather still throughout it all, though without optical image stabilization it’s likely that it was propped up on something (or the guy who recorded it just happens to have arms of steel).

You may not ever need or want to record in 240 frames per second, but if you do it’s nice to know that the Nexus 6P can handle it like a champ.
