Meizu fans have a hot new phablet option to consider if they’re in the market for one. Meizu has unveiled their 5.7-inch Meizu Pro 5. The display doesn’t offer up top-line stats of 2560 x 1440, but 1080p in Super AMOLED form should still prove to be crisp enough. The device features that trendy and all-important “2.5D” curved glass, and it looks like an iPhone. Awesome.
Even if you don’t like the look of Apple’s products, there’s a lot to like under the hood. We have 21 megapixels for the rear camera sensor, and a full 5 megapixels for the one on the front. Inside is Samsung’s Exynos 7420 Octa-Core 64-bit chipset, which is the same one you’ll find in devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Samsung Galaxy S6. RAM and storage come in at 3GB/32GB or 4GB/64GB, and thankfully you can expand storage with a microSD slot if you feel so inclined.
Other specs include the use of USB Type-C for charging and data, a 3,050mAh battery and Android 5.1 Lollipop with Meizu’s custom UX on top. Not bad at all.
The device’s will go for the equivalent of $438 and $485 for the 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB configurations, respectively. You’ll probably be needing to import this thing so expect to tack on a bit more for costs associated with that. The first shipments land October 12th, so there won’t be much of a wait at all if this is what you’re settling on for 2015.
