We’re not entirely sure why’d you want to, but apparently it’s possible to play Nintendo DS games on your Android Wear-powered smartwatch. In what is apparently a proof of concept, YouTuber Hacking Jules was able to get a DS emulator up and running on his LG G Watch, firing up hit titles like Mario Kart DS and Pokemon Diamond.
Although you’d think the watch’s Snapdragon 400 processor would be up to the challenge, the games stutter along like they’re moving in slow motion. Don’t even get us started on the tiny on-screen controls. In other words, no matter how hardcore you are, don’t expect to do much gaming on your smartwatch just yet. In case you haven’t figured it out yet, your smartphone is still much better suited for that.
This latest attempt at throwing various emulators on Android Wear devices is just one of many we’ve seen in recent months. Everything from Game Boy Advanced emulators, to Minecraft, DOOM, and Windows 95 have been shoehorned onto this tiny devices. If nothing else, these are meant to show Android’s flexibility and what could be accomplished with a few simple ADB commands. If you’re really looking for Nintendo games on Android, just wait until that new Pokemon Go augmented reality game hits the streets. We be you’ll have a much better time.
