10-inch Kindle Fire tablet shows off a brand new Fire OS user interface [LEAK]
It looks like Amazon could be looking to stretch their Kindle Fire tablet line beyond the 8.9-inch boundary. Evan Blass hit Twitter with another leak today, and it appears to be a 10-inch Amazon Kindle Fire tablet.
There’s nothing special of note going on with its exterior, though the render does make it appear to have a more glossy chassis than we’re used to. There’s also a power button, volume buttons and a rear facing camera.
But it’s what we see on the front that’s interesting. No, not a front-facing camera or even the display — it’s what’s on the display that catches our eye. The device appears to be running an updated Fire OS that resembles a traditional Android screen.
Looking closely, however, you can see Amazon’s influence throughout. The row of apps you see is topped by a list of categories which we imagine you’ll swipe through:
- Home
- Books
- Videos
- Games
- Music
- Audiobooks
These will undoubtedly be used to group apps and content in a way that makes sense, which is not surprising considering Amazon aims to push content and services above all else. We can also see that there’s a search box at the top of the UI, though we’re not sure how exactly this will be used. We imagine it’ll be used to quickly jump between apps, books and more, but there’s a chance it could also be used to search Amazon or a search engine such as Google.
Despite Amazon’s failures on the phone front, they’ve always made a fine line of tablets and we can’t wait to see what, exactly, this 10-inch variant has to offer.
