Oppo has quietly introduced a new member to the R7 family. This is the Oppo R7 Lite, and you can probably guess from its name that it’s a class lower than the regular R7 or the R7 Plus that went up for pre-sale this morning.
One Indonesian retailer suggests it’s expected to cost around $280 when it launches, though that price tag is a direct conversion from its Indonesian value.
For comparison’s sake, the regular Oppo R7 costs about $350 when converted from Indonesian value, but its price tag is actually $400 from Oppo. That means we could see the R7 Lite come in at somewhere in the low $300 range, though Oppo has yet to confirm anything either way.
Anyway, onto the specs — here’s what you’re getting for that much:
- 5-inch 720p display
- 2GB of RAM
- 16GB of internal storage
- 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 Octa-Core chipset
- 13 megapixel rear camera, 8 megapixel front camera
- Android 5.1 Lollipop with ColorOS 2.1
- 2,320mAh battery
- 143 x 71 x 6.3mm, 147 g
That doesn’t sound like a bad device for such a low price tag, especially if the Oppo R7 Plus’s $500 asking price is a bit too rich for you. We’ll be seeing more avalability details from Oppo, so stay tuned if this is something on your list of considerations for a new 2015 smartphone.
