Alcatel has announced a decent-sized collection of products at IFA this week, including a pair of new phones. First up are the Alcatel Pop Star and Pop Up.
The Pop Star is probably the most interesting. Forget leather, wood, metal and glass. They’ve gone full on denim for this one:
Well, that’s just one of the materials you can choose for the backplate — they’ve got all those others, too. But a denim smartphone — what gets better than that?!
The device should win on more merits than being able to match your favorite pair of skinny jeans, though. It’s a 5-inch 720p device with an 8 megapixel camera, quad-core chipset, 1GB of RAM and comes with Lollipop out of the box. That doesn’t sound extremely exciting up against some of the high-end crowd favorites we like to talk about, but Alcatel should make it affordable enough to be a compelling purchase decision for anyone not willing to throw tons of money down on a smartphone.
For those who do have a bit more of a budget to play with, there’s the Alcatel Pop Up. It takes things up a notch with quad-core processing, 2GB of RAM and a 13 megapixel camera. It also features a metal build with glass covering it for that premium feel. This device doesn’t get any notable bump in resolution as it is also 720p. Again, though, it’s probably going to come with a more reasonable price tag than many of the true high-end devices on the market.
Unfortunately there aren’t any details about when it’ll hit, which markets it’ll hit, and how much it’ll cost — we just know it’s coming, so stay on the lookout if you’re an Alcatel fan.
