The heydays of Verizon’s “can you hear me now?” campaign are long over. Even the robotic workshop sounds and thundering red “Drooiiiidd” slogan seem like the ancient past. Now Verizon is getting rid of something it’s had for longer than those two combined: their logo. (Or at least it seems that way).
A few personal opinions about this logo change:
I’m not sure why Verizon didn’t consult me, but if they were going to go this route, it seems one small change could have made the company’s new logo a lot less boring and more topical.
Now let’s give our Democratic spirits some exercise and weigh in on which Verizon logo we like best.

But dissecting the logo change from a design and marketing point of view may not be the most interesting angle.
John Legere, T-Mobile CEO, used this change as an opportunity to completely bash Verizon in one of his not-so-rare Twitter tirades. Here is what he posted:
That’s pretty brutal. I’m sure Legere would argue it’s brutally honest and the consumers deserve to hear honesty. What Verizon would argue, I’m guessing would be PR fluff… and perhaps rightfully so.
Post your opinions on Legere’s latest in the comments; there aren’t enough poll options to accomodate the likely array of opinions. And let us know what you think about the new Verizon logo in the poll above.
Note: Verizon Wireless hasn’t changed their official logo yet. This change was for Verizon Communications. However, Verizon Wireless is likely to change soon. Or they should. Because above.
