We’re only a day away from Sony revealing their refreshed Xperia lineup in Berlin, but already their phones are getting the full hands-on treatment thanks to overseas news outlets. You may remember it was only yesterday the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium got manhandled on camera (the video has since been taken down) and today, Sony’s full device lineup — the Sony Xperia Z5, Sony Xperia Z5 Compact, and Sony Xperia Z5 Premium — are now fully exposed in high res photos.
Dutch site nu.nl is the one doing the honors, providing us with a very clear look at the subtle changes Sony’s bringing to their Xperia devices. Along the side, the XPERIA logo in etched into the phone and you’ll notice that both the regular and Compact Z5 are using some kind of matte finish for the back. Although it’s possible it could still be using glass, we’re hoping Sony finally wised up and moved away from glass-backed devices (however, it still appears to be present on the Z5 Premium). In the photos you’ll also spot Sony’s new fingerprint scanning power button, something we’re extremely interested in seeing in action.
Overall, the devices look great. We know they could be seen as a little plain and/or boring for some folks, but we like the no-nonsense approach to Sony’s design. Who says big black slabs can’t be sexy.
Thanks, Hector!
