We heard shortly after the LG Watch Urbane’s reveal that LG could be working on a deluxe version fo the smart watch, but the company had been very quiet about it. They broke silence today, though, by announcing the LG Watch Urbane Luxe.
This thing is probably no different under-the-hood than the LG Watch Urbane we fondled a few months ago, but the outside surely is. The Watch Urbane Luxe is plated in 23-karat gold, which LG says is stronger and harder than 24-karat options, yet more heavy than the 18-karats you’ll see in most standard jewelry.
The device also comes standard with a genuine leather band with gold-plated clasps for easy attachment and removal. It looks a treat, but you’re going to have to drop some serious coin if you want some: LG has already confirmed a starting price tag of $1,200. That’s not unreasonable for the quality you’re getting, though we don’t blame you if you instantly cross this off your list of prospects because of it.
LG will ship the Watch Urbane Luxe in a glass lacquer box that you can use to put it on display for the times where you aren’t wearing it. There are also only 500 of these being made, so there’s a bit of exclusivity for those lucky enough to be able to grab one. If this sounds like your thing then you can pre-order one in the US at Reeds in September, but be sure you act fairly fast as the limited availability is sure to be swallowed up by other grossly rich folks in due time.
