Facebook just hit 1 Billion daily users
Whether you love or hate Facebook it’s safe to say that you’re probably using it. Especially today as CEO Mark Zuckerberg just announced the company – for the first time ever – hit 1 Billion users in a single day (on Monday). Here is the boy wonder’s post on Facebook announcing the feat:
We just passed an important milestone. For the first time ever, one billion people used Facebook in a single day.
On Monday, 1 in 7 people on Earth used Facebook to connect with their friends and family.
When we talk about our financials, we use average numbers, but this is different. This was the first time we reached this milestone, and it’s just the beginning of connecting the whole world.
I’m so proud of our community for the progress we’ve made. Our community stands for giving every person a voice, for promoting understanding and for including everyone in the opportunities of our modern world.
A more open and connected world is a better world. It brings stronger relationships with those you love, a stronger economy with more opportunities, and a stronger society that reflects all of our values.
Thank you for being part of our community and for everything you’ve done to help us reach this milestone. I’m looking forward to seeing what we accomplish together.
Even people who despise Facebook tend to have an account and check it regularly because, well, that’s just how the world works. And even if you’ve gone cold turkey on the Eff Bee, there’s still a good chance you’re using Instagram as an alternative, typing away on Snapchat while you travel, or you’ll be buying an Oculus this holiday season.
Now if we could just get all 1 Billion of those people to Like Phandroid on Facebook…
UPDATE: Facebook has reached out to Phandroid to make a clarification regarding our use of “1 Billion Daily Users”. Our use of the term was in reference to a single day milestone that was reached, not in reference to online analytics metrics that report and project usage for statistical purposes and competitive analysis. Their exact message to me:
Just wanted to reach out about your Facebook 1 billion article. One slight adjustment – you say its 1 billion DAILY users and it’s just one billion in a single day. This isn’t an update to DAU. Just want to be clear on that point.
Regardless, we stand equally impressed. Congrats, Facebook.
