Samsung has just officially announced the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. As we expected, it’s accurate to call this a bigger version of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, with specs including a 5.7-inch 2560 x 1440 curved display, 16 megapixel camera, Exynos 7420 chipset, 3,000mAh battery and 4GB of RAM.
That said, it doesn’t come without its other perks and pluses. For instance, wireless charging has returned, and while the smaller S6 Edge had the feature, the S6 Edge Plus can charge its battery wirelessly 30% faster. Samsung is boasting a full charge from 0 to 100% in just 120 minutes. It also has improved optical image stabilization for even smoother video shooting.
For software, Samsung confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus would see the return of “Apps Edge,” though it’s not as robust as it was on the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge. Instead, it acts as a shortcuts area to quick launch 1 of 5 of your favorite or most used apps. You access it using an extra swipe when your People Edge UI is up.
Samsung also announced the improved SideSync 4.0, which allows you to not only move files from your PC to your phone and vice versa, but also allow you to take and place calls and send / respond to messages. The big news today is that SideSync now works cross platform between Android, Windows and Mac OSX, so there are many options for taking advantage no matter which platforms you prefer.
Everything else is as you’d remember it from the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, including Quick Launch Camera from anywhere by double-tapping the home button, an improved fingerprint scanner and a heart rate sensor.
This is the lone accessory Samsung had to show off with the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. It’s both a cover, and a keyboard. Thus, Keyboard Cover. You snap this thing on and you can begin typing out whatever it is you need with a Blackberry-style pad for comfort. It’s probably not that useful for those who’ve gotten comfortable with typing long paragraphs out using touchscreen keyboards, but if you’ve been missing your Blackberry this is a pretty decent looking options.
You want the full spec sheet? Well, why didn’t you say so:
