Motorola posts September 3rd date for Moto X Style (Pure Edition), quickly retracts it

Motorola seems to have the gears moving on bringing us the Moto X Style that promised would land in September. The company went ahead with a Tweet today that said the following:

On Sep. 3, you’ll see what real love is like. Choose #MotoX for a more powerful connection.

The announcement also went up on Google+. Unfortunately, Motorola was quick to remove posts from both social networks. We’re not sure why they’d retract their word, but we’re hoping it’s not because the date is inaccurate. September 3rd would be a really nice release date when most were expecting to have to wait until later in the month.

The Moto X Style will launch as the Moto X Pure Edition in the United States, in case you haven’t heard, and there will be just one SKU which can work on all major US carriers.

Was Motorola’s retraction simply to make sure they clarify which regions will be able to get their hands on their respective versions of the phone? We’re not sure — these things happen and, for whatever reason, they don’t always go right, so we’ll have to wait and see whether they have any follow-up announcements to make in the near future. In the meantime we’ll be reaching out to the company to see if they can shed some light on what happened, and you can check out our hands-on with the thing to get an early idea about the phone’s worth.
