Verizon’s upcoming Motorola DROID Turbo 2 is already in Costco’s system

The original Motorola DROID Turbo was a fantastic Android device, well ahead of its time. Solid camera, QHD AMOLED display, tons of RAM, a nearly stock Android experience, and it even survived the freezer overnight. Ultimately, it was a few of the phone’s shortcomings that had me moving onto other things (Nexus 6 for the time being) but I’ve never been able to get over the freedom that came with having so much battery life at my disposal. For once, It felt like anything was possible and I wasn’t actively monitoring every little thing my phone was doing in an effort to squeeze every last drop of battery from my phone — it was freeing.

This has us excited about a possible followup to the DROID Turbo — known as the Turbo 2 — which has been slowing showing up more and more in recent leaks. Nothing concrete yet, just a name, backside, and inner frame of the device with wireless charging (which appears to be based on the Moto X Play, but we’re sure Motorola is working on boosting some of those hardware specs and tweaking the design). According to a new leak from Android Central, it appears the phone is now showing up in Costco’s computer system, alongside the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus on Verizon. Unfortunately, that’s all the info that was supplied which was little more than a small confirmation the phone exists.

Although teased in a series of strange James Franco videos weeks ahead of its release, the DROID Turbo eventually launched on October 30th. If history has taught us anything, it’s to expect the sequel around that same time as well, maybe even sooner.
