The LG G4 has a pretty damn good camera — one of the best in the business, we’d say — so when we took a gander at these comparisons to the OnePlus 2 in a night time shooting scenario we expected nothing but the closest of shootouts. Let’s take a look (OnePlus 2 is on the left, and LG G4 on the right in the following galleries):
And what do you know? It was indeed close. The OnePlus 2 shone in areas of noise and color accuracy, though the LG G4 wasn’t far behind. Much of the color differences can be chalked up to different approaches in contrast, something that could easily be a fault of post-processing more than the camera sensor itself (remember that it’s possible to shoot in RAW on the LG G4, so one could tweak the image a lot more in post-processing to correct color and contrast).
We’d say the edge in sharpness also goes to the OnePlus 2, though the increased noised in the LG G4’s shots probably skew that a bit. It’s interesting that the LG G4 does have that increased noise, though, as the phone shot at lower ISO than the OnePlus One for the majority of the photos according to the EXIF data attached.
We won’t rush to pass judgment on the OnePlus 2’s camera before we get a chance to try it out for ourselves, but if these shots — along with the ones that surfaced in a recent comparison to the iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 — are any indication, then they have a homerun on their hands. We’ve just a few more days to go before all the details are unleashed, and you won’t want to miss it!
