Samsung Galaxy Note 5 could have a microSD slot after all

Rumors of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 5 originally suggested Samsung would axe the removable battery and microSD card slot. While the news still seems bleak for the battery, a new development gives hope to at least the microSD slot making an appearance.

That much was made apparent in a UA profile document spotted on Sprint’s servers. The document lists the Note 5 as having a microSD card slot that can be loaded up with a card up to 128GB.

We’re not sure how Samsung would look to implement the slot, though it would likely be a side-loaded insertion in a manner similar to the installation of SIM cards.

That raises the question: if Samsung found a way to fit a microSD card into the Note 5’s form factor, why couldn’t they have done the same for the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge? Is the size difference to blame? Or did Samsung simply misjudge the demand for the feature and are hoping to save face with this release?

Of course, those answers depend on whether the microSD slot actually exists, which even a Sprint UA profile document can’t 100% confirm. We’ll have to wait for Samsung’s official word whenever that happens (August 13th, if the latest rumors are to be trusted). Would you be more willing to consider buying the Galaxy Note 5 if it has a microSD slot? Shout to us below!
