Yesterday, rumors that Samsung was planning on making the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 available earlier than usual made their way around the net. Although an exact date wasn’t given, sources claimed Samsung was targeting a mid-August announcement ahead of IFA 2015 (where they’d normally conduct their business). Those rumors are finding new legs as today, the boys at SamMobile have received further confirmation of this time frame, pegging the big reveal date down for Wednesday, August 12th. What’s more is they claim to have an actual launch date as well: August 21st.
The dates apply to both the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus (or “Galaxy S6 edge+”) here in the US, although in a separate post, SamMobile suspects that the Galaxy Note 5 may not launch in all markets at once (namely in Europe and possibly other regions). Of course, nothing is really confirmed and likely wont be until the phone’s actual reveal date, which at this moment hasn’t been made official quite yet.
Although similar in design, the Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge Plus are really 2 different devices. The Edge Plus is more geared as a larger-sized Galaxy S6 Edge, while the Note 5 packs Samsung’s trademark S Pen and houses only the highest end specs the manufacturer could squeeze in the device (we’re hearing an Exynos 7422 processor along with 4GB of RAM). Unfortunately, the Note 5’s more premium build quality also means that you’ll like have to sacrifice micro SD and removable battery. But hey, it’ll be really shiny.
