Dropbox for Android adds a PDF viewer and document search

The competition among cloud storage services is one of the fiercest around. You’ve got Google Drive, OneDrive, Copy, and many more to choose from. But one service has been around the longest, and it’s still kicking out great features. Of course we’re talking about Dropbox.

The latest update to the Dropbox app on Android adds a couple requested features. First, you can open PDFs with the built-in viewer in Dropbox. When a PDF is opened in Dropbox you’ll be able to share it and automatically save it to your Dropbox. This should make it much easier for users to handle PDFs.

The second new feature is the ability to search inside documents. The search applies to PDFs, Word docs, and PowerPoint files. If you have a particularly lengthy document and you want to jump to specific part you can search for a word or phrase. Both of these new features are available in the latest version of Dropbox. Dropbox continues to be one of the best productivity apps you can have, and it’s free.
