Last year was a big year for Motorola. The company made some big moves, refreshing their lineup of heavy hitting handsets: the Motorola Moto X (2nd Gen) and Motorola Moto G (2nd Gen). That was in September and because the insanely low-priced Motorola Moto E had launched only a few months prior, it was absent from Motorola’s big event in Chicago.
Around the time to Moto E was first unveiled, Motorola also announced that, after months of rumors, they’d be adding 4G LTE radio to their mid-range Moto G with the Motorola Moto G 4G LTE. It was one of the only major shortcomings of the device, although the addition of 4G did raise the price a smidge (about $40).
Fast forward to today where it’s been nearly 9 months since the original Moto E first landed on the scene and it appears that it too will be getting a 4G LTE refresh. A Best Buy listing seems to have appeared out of nowhere showing what they’re calling the Motorola Moto E 4G for Sprint pre-paid.
Priced at $100, the device pictured looks similar to last year’s Motorola Moto E, only it appears to have ditched the dual front firing speaker for a single one up top, and the display has grown slightly. Here are the specs according to Best Buy:
The Moto E 4G doesn’t appear to be shipping yet but shows it’s available for in-store pickup oddly enough. It wasn’t available in our location but maybe someone else will have better luck?. Chances are Best Buy jumped the gun and it’s simply not available quite yet. Whether or not Motorola will formally introduce the phone via blog post or quietly make it available on their site or through other carriers/retail stores remains to be seen.
