Imgur now gives you unlimited photo uploads for free, kills off old Imgur Pro pricing option

Chances are if you’ve ever browsed Reddit, you’ve run into a photo or two hosted on Imgur.com (likely all of them). The photo sharing service that has become synonymous with Reddit has long been the site’s go-to photo sharing service thanks to its easy uploading capabilities, stupidly short URLs, and various posting options.

It’s been exactly 6 years since the service first went live and for their 6th birthday, Imgur has announced that they’re now “phasing out” their once paid premium option — Imgur Pro — by giving it away absolutely free of charge. Imgur Pro allowed users to upload as many photos as they’d like for only $23 a year which really wasn’t too unreasonable when compared to offerings from Dropbox or Google.

Starting today, here’s what you can look forward to with a regular free account:

Imgur has build up a strong community of users (dubbed “Imgurians) over the years, rivaling that of Reddit. While their official app for Android is only ho-hum, there are multiple 3rd party options available on Google Play with better design and added functionality.
