Verizon becomes the first carrier in the US to update the Galaxy S5 to Lollipop

Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 5.0 Lollipop Verizon Wireless

Straight out of left field, Verizon has announced they’re now ready to officially begin rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop to the Samsung Galaxy S5. Often times ridiculed as being the slowest carrier to push out over-the-air updates to their devices (because of their lengthy technical approval process), Verizon has thrown everyone for a loop after becoming the first carrier in the US to push out Lollipop to the Galaxy S5. Bet you guys never saw that one coming.

The update brings a fresh coat of paint thanks to an all new Material redesign (with Samsung’s trademark TouchWiz UI on top), new lockscreen, sound profiles, and all new recents menu (previously known as the multitasking menu). If you haven’t gotten prompted about the update yet, you can always manually check by jumping into your Settings app > About phone > Software updates to pull the update right now.
