People love Instagram because it brings that “vintage” Polaroid-era look to your digital photos. But what if instead of instantly applying a filter and sharing to social networks you could instantly print the photo with a real filter? That’s exactly what you can do with the Polaroid Zip.
The Polaroid Zip connects to both Android and iOS devices via Bluetooth. Once connected you can use the companion app to print any photo from your phone. The photos print out in 3×2-inch rectangles. With the companion app you can add filters, frames, stickers, and more. The paper used by the Zip is made of dye crystals which get heated up to reveal the desired colors. It’s crazy fast and crazy cool.
The Polaroid Zip will be available this spring for $130. Check out the video below to see how fast the printer works.
Most importantly, how much is the paper?
When I worked at Target? Almost $1/page… This is based on an older tech called “Zink”. Nothing new.
Actually, printing 50 pics should cost US$25 so it’s significantly cheaper than William suggests. Further details about Zink paper can be found here: http://www.ritzcamera.com/product/POLZ2X350.htm?clickid=wr4Vm2TrnzUKS%3A5XeO1irQ8DUkVziLUBUSbgUU0
