Pebble 2.3 Beta Square Cash

Pebble now supports Android Wear complete with actionable notifications [VIDEO]

The rift that separated Pebble and more modern smartwatches like the Moto 360 has gotten a little bit smaller today. Like an early Christmas present, Pebble announced that they’ve done the unthinkable and in the latest 2.3 beta of their app, they now support Android Wear notifications.

Even though the aging Pebble doesn’t have the necessary hardware for voice controls (maybe in a future hardware update?), they even have actionable notifications for responding to messages and/or other applications. Users interested in trying it for themselves will need to join Pebble’s open beta group and install the latest 2.3 update by here. Oh, and to get Hangouts replies working, Pebble mentions you will need to install the Android Wear app from the Google Play Store first. After that, everything should be up and running.

Also new is Pebble now compatible with on Android 4.0+ devices (previously only 4.3+), so that’s great news for users with older devices. No word on when regular users can expect the update to arrive in the Google Play Store, but rest assured that when it does, your Pebble will effectively level up.

We couldn’t be more excited about the future of Pebble. Now, just give us higher res and a fresh new updated design and we might just shelve our Moto 360 for good.
