We knew Motorola was planning to roll out Android 5.0 Lollipop for the first generation Motorola Moto G (2013) sometime soon after an update to Motorola Update Services app hinted as much. It seems the rollout may already be underway as a user on XDA posted yesterday evening that he received the update prompt on his Moto G XT1033 (the original model with the 4.5-inch display and dual SIM) in India.
The software version shown is 220.21.16.en.03 and officially marks the first gen Moto G as one of the most affordable handsets on the planet to run the absolute latest Android firmware. But before you get too excited, sit tight. This is likely a soak test although we expect the rollout to hit more regions in the coming days or weeks.
