Deal: Get the Moto X 2013 Developer Edition for $230 on eBay

Motorola Moto X DSC00695

Motorola may have taken last year’s Moto X down form their site to promote the all new 2014 version, but that doesn’t mean you can’t buy one. A great deal has hit eBay for a developer edition of 2013’s model — $230 with free shipping. Amazon currently has the same phone for $289 so it’s a pretty steep discount.

The listing says “new” Moto X, but the image and product descriptions make it painfully obvious that this is last year’s model so don’t purchase one thinking otherwise. Here are the 3G and 4G bands it has, which pretty much limits use of this thing to AT&T, T-Mobile and most other GSM carriers in the United States and Canada:

3G Network: HSDPA 850/900/1700/1900/2100
4G Network:  LTE 700/1700/1900/2100

And as was standard with the developer edition, this thing has 32GB of storage.

Even if it isn’t the youngest berry on the tree, last year’s Moto X is still a fantastic phone for $230. It features a 4.7-inch display with 720p resolution, a 10 megapixel camera, the Motorola Computing System which features a customized Qualcomm dual-core processor and 2GB of RAM. The device currently runs Android 4.4 KitKat in official capacity, but it wouldn’t be out of the question to assume it’ll get Android 5.0 Lollipop at some point.

And even if Motorola themselves don’t drop Lollipop, this being a developer model means you can unlock its bootloader quite easily and flash all of the ROMs sure to come down the line. If you’re looking for an inexpensive, yet capable phone and the Moto G isn’t your cup of tea this certainly fits the bill as a top option. Be sure to head through the source link to order, but be quick about it as there are only limited quantities available.
